RARE Vintage Hollywood MARX BROTHERS Go West Movie Poster Painting, MGM 1962
The is a very special and RARE Vintage Hollywood MARX BROTHERS Go West Movie Poster, with extensive oil and watercolor paint additions, which was given out in extremely limited quantities by Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) in 1962, for the theatrical re-release promotion of the classic 1940 Marx Bros. Movie, Go West, starring, Groucho, Harpo, and Chico Marx. This poster is meticulously and skillfully hand-painted and colorfully accented and was likely a limited-edition poster intended for specific theatrical releases in California. During the 1960's there were numerous talented commercial artists who worked for the Hollywood film industry, and one of these artists likely contributed to this poster.
Photo 24 shows how the actual stock version of this 1962 poster looked, which is very drab and colorless. This piece depicts the images of Groucho, Harpo, and Chico Marx in Old West attire, along with Diana Lewis visible to the right of the scene. In the lower right corner, some writing reads: Property of National Screen Service Corp.

Actual poster is approximately 27 x 39 1/2 inches. This poster is housed in an original 1950's era movie theatre marquee frame, which opens up along all of the sides, allowing a new poster to be inserted and an old one to be removed.
Good condition for age and outdoor display use, with mild wear at the corners, a few small bug bites along the edges of the poster, and light scuffing and edge wear to the vintage period marquee frame.
