(TWO) Movie Poster, Linen Backing/Restoration service! Cleaned, backed, restored
I don't usually do linen backing to the general public but I have a small window to do a few extra posters. For the most part I only do my own collection, private collections, and in person drop offs. This listing is for TWO posters to be linen backed.
Posters should be no larger than 42" tall and 30" wide. So this includes MOST standard sized 1-sheet movie posters and any daybill, 1/2 sheet, or insert posters as well. If you are not sure if your poster qualifies, feel free to send me a message.
Please include images and size dimensions. This service is will be done according to archival standards. Fist the posters will be cleaned of any minimal tape or residue. Then they will be soaked and cleaned in a wash tub.
After this they will receive a quick bleaching. The amount of bleaching will vary depending on the need and age of the poster. This will whiten the paper, remove most mold/stains and make the colors pop more.
After the cleaning and bleaching, the posters will be mounted onto a layer of canvas with acid free archival paper. PH balanced wheat paste glue will be used for the adhesive. Once dried, basic color restoration will be applied using water soluble water-color pencils and water color ink if needed.
This whole process is done in according to archival standards and is done with the knowledge any modifications are fully reversible. To document the process, we will take a photograph of the posters before, after backing, and after restoration. To show my work, I have uploaded a few photos in this listing of some Movie Posters I have recently completed. The general backing and restoration process takes about a week once I start. This is mainly due to the time needed to let the solutions and adhesives mix properly, also time for the poster to dry before it can be restored and cut from the mounting frame. This is to cover the cost of RETURNING the posters back to you. This service it not available for international customers, sorry. 1 Some movie posters may be beyond the acceptable condition to be backed and restored. Its not impossible but the work required to restore very damaged posters far exceeds the service being provided. Large amounts of tape on the poster, numerous torn pieces, or large missing pieces, large permanent stains, and excessive paper damage.If you have a poster you are unsure about whether it exceeds expectable condition, feel free to message me with a few pictures of the poster. 2 Some movie posters are extremely valuable.
